You will need: fabric, matching thread, sewing machine (optional), cotton batting (for stuffing pillow)
Throw pillows are a great way to add a burst of color to a neutral toned couch or to offset busier patterns. They are also incredibly easy to sew, making them ideal accent pieces for your home. Once you have your fabric, you are only a few seams away from having chic and comfy pillows.
Cut fabric to intended proportions. Make sure you leave at least 2” of extra selvage for seaming. Also remember that once you stuff the pillow, the dimensions will appear smaller so make it slightly larger to account for this factor.
Next, put the fabric printed side to printed side (as if it were inside out) to sew the first three seams. Sew only three quarters of the final side so that space is left to insert batting as well as to turn pillow the right side out again.
Once you are done with the seams, turn pillow right side out. Stuff batting into hole using a long rod so you can push it into the corners. Make sure to eliminate any lumpiness at this point since it is more difficult to go back and fix it once you have sewn up the hole.
When you are satisfied with your stuffing job, sew up the opening.
